Signs Your Girlfriend Is Following Other Guys on Instagram

Instagram does not send anyone a list of "signs" that a girlfriend is following other guys, and it does not flag a new follow the moment it happens. What you can see depends on whether her account is public or private, and whether you already follow her. SnoopInsta, available as an iOS app, can watch a public username, or a private one you already follow, and email you when a later check finds a new follow that was added after you started tracking it. It does not read DMs, comments, story mentions, or hidden tags, and it does not notify her that you added her to a watch list.

  • Works on public accounts, and on private accounts you already follow
  • Tracking starts the day you add the profile, not before
  • You get an email alert when a check finds a new follow, not an instant push the second it happens
  • Only new follows are tracked. DMs, comments, and tagged photos are a separate thing entirely

What Does Instagram Itself Show About Who She Follows?

Instagram shows a current following list on any profile, but only if the account is public, or if it's private and you already follow it. There is no built-in way to see when a follow was added or to get a notification when someone new is followed.

  1. Open her profile and tap "Following" to see the current list
  2. If the account is private and you don't follow her, you won't see this list at all
  3. There is no date next to each name, so you can't tell when any of those follows happened

If her account is set to private, that's a real Instagram setting, not a workaround. You can read how it works on the Instagram Help Center.

What Still Doesn't Work, Even With a Tracker?

If you're hoping to see a timestamp on when she followed someone, Instagram removed the feature that did this closest to that. The old "Following" tab inside Activity Status showed friends' likes and follows in a feed, but TechCrunch reported that Instagram removed it in October 2019. It is not coming back, and no app can restore it.

DMs, comments, story mentions, and hidden tagged photos are also outside what any follow tracker does, including SnoopInsta. If those are what you're actually trying to check, these cover that ground directly:

And if her account is private and you don't already follow her, there's no legitimate way to see her following list, past or present. SnoopInsta can't unlock that either.

Where Does SnoopInsta Fit Into This?

SnoopInsta's job is narrow: it watches for new follows added after you start tracking a profile. If that's specifically what you want to know, here's how it works.

  1. Add her Instagram username to SnoopInsta. If her account is private, you need to already follow her for this to work.
  2. The app starts watching from that day forward. It has no access to anything that happened before you added the profile.
  3. When a later check finds a new follow, you get an email. This isn't instant, and it's not a push notification tied to the exact second someone was followed.

You can also run a manual check inside the app, and you can track more than one profile at a time. Nothing about this process notifies her that she's being watched.

Can I See Who She Followed Before I Started Tracking?

No. SnoopInsta only tracks follows that happen after you add the profile. If you want to piece together older activity on an account you already follow, this post on seeing who someone followed in their history walks through what's actually possible, which is limited.

Will She Know I'm Tracking Her?

She is not notified when you add her username to SnoopInsta or when a new follow is found. The app doesn't interact with her account, send requests, or trigger any Instagram alert on her end.

Does This Show Who Followed Her First, or Who She Followed First?

No, SnoopInsta only logs new follows going forward. If you're trying to figure out who followed whom first on an older connection, that's a different question answered in how to see who followed who first on Instagram.

What If Her Account Is Private and I Don't Follow Her?

Then there's no legitimate way to see her following list, with or without an app. Instagram keeps that list hidden from non-followers by design, and SnoopInsta respects the same restriction rather than trying to bypass it.
