FolTracker vs SnoopInsta: Which Instagram Follow Tracker Actually Does What It Says?
SnoopInsta is the clearer choice if you want a documented, limited tool: it watches a username you add on iOS and tells you when a later check finds a new follow after that date. FolTracker is marketed in the same "follow tracker" category, but its current feature list, platform support, and update history are not independently confirmed by Instagram or by any major tech outlet, so this guide does not repeat its marketing claims as fact.
- SnoopInsta works on public accounts and on private accounts you already follow, starting the day you add the profile.
- Neither app can recover follow history from before you started tracking, because Instagram does not expose that data to any third party.
- Neither app reads DMs, comments, story mentions, or hidden tagged photos. That data sits inside Instagram's own systems.
SnoopInsta fits someone who wants a plain alert about a new follow going forward, such as a person in a long-distance relationship checking in occasionally, or someone who noticed one suspicious follow and wants to watch for the next one. It is not built for someone trying to read private messages or dig up a secret account whose username they don't know. The person being watched is never notified about the tracking.
What does FolTracker do?
FolTracker is listed in app stores as a tool for monitoring Instagram follow activity, but its exact capabilities, supported platforms, and how often it updates are not documented by Instagram or by any outlet we could verify. Because of that, this comparison does not repeat specific feature or pricing claims about it. If you're considering it, check its current store listing and recent reviews directly before installing anything.
What does SnoopInsta do?
SnoopInsta is an iOS app. You add a public username, or a private account you already follow, and the app watches it starting that day. When a later check finds a new follow that wasn't there before, you get an email or in-app notification. You can also tap Check Now inside the app, and you can track more than one profile at a time.
How do FolTracker and SnoopInsta compare?
The table below sticks to categories we can describe accurately for each app. Where FolTracker's behavior isn't publicly confirmed, we say so rather than guess.
| Category | FolTracker | SnoopInsta |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | Not independently confirmed | iOS |
| Private account support | Not independently confirmed | Accounts you already follow only |
| Follow history before tracking starts | Not independently confirmed | None; tracking begins the day you add a profile |
| Reads DMs, comments, mentions, or hidden tags | Not independently confirmed | No |
| Pricing claims | Check current store listing | Check current App Store listing |
What can neither app show you?
No third-party app, including SnoopInsta, can show direct messages, comments, story mentions, or tagged photos someone hid from their profile grid. That data lives inside Instagram's own servers and isn't exposed through any public interface. Instagram also removed its old Following activity tab, which once showed a feed of likes and follows from accounts you followed, back in 2019 (TechCrunch). It hasn't come back, so any guide telling you to open that tab is describing a feature that no longer exists.
Instagram also doesn't let anyone, including the account owner's friends, see the followers list of a private account they don't already follow. That's a core part of how Instagram's privacy settings work, not a bug either app can route around. And if someone has a second account you don't know the username for, no tracker can find it, because there's nothing to search for.
If your real question is about timing rather than who's following whom now, our guide on how to see when someone followed someone on Instagram covers what's actually checkable. For a look at older follow activity specifically, see how to see who someone followed on Instagram (history).
Where does SnoopInsta fit if you want to track new follows?
If what you actually need is a notice when someone follows a new account going forward, SnoopInsta's process is three steps:
- Add the public username, or a private account you already follow, in the SnoopInsta iOS app.
- The app watches that profile starting that day. It doesn't pull any follow activity from before you added it.
- When a later check finds a new follow, you get an email or notification. You can also tap Check Now any time instead of waiting.
This won't tell you who followed whom first in the distant past (that's covered separately in how to see who followed who first on Instagram), and it won't surface anything from DMs or comments.
Frequently asked questions
Is FolTracker safe to use?
We can't confirm that from independent sources, since its developer, data handling, and feature claims aren't documented anywhere outside its own store listing. Read the permissions it asks for and recent reviews on the App Store or Google Play before deciding, the same way you would for any third-party Instagram tool.
Does SnoopInsta show follow history from before I added someone?
No. SnoopInsta starts watching the day you add a profile and has no access to Instagram's original follow timestamps or anything that happened earlier. If you need older history, Instagram itself doesn't expose it either, which is why the 2019 removal of the Following activity tab matters here.
Can either app read DMs or see hidden tagged photos?
No. Neither SnoopInsta nor FolTracker, nor any outside app, can access direct messages or photos someone untagged from their profile. For hidden tags specifically, see how to see photos someone is tagged in, even if hidden.
Is there an Android version of SnoopInsta?
As of October 2026, SnoopInsta is distributed as an iOS app only, available on the App Store. A purchase made on the SnoopInsta website does not unlock the iOS app; the two are separate.
